What everybody should know in relation to type 2 diabetes is that it can be fully prevented and is almost always curable only by changes in diet and lifestyle. Diabetes is a problem relating to the hormone regulating sugar levels in our blood, insulin.

What is also true, though, is that most of us have too much insulin in our blood, leading us to a state of chronic degenerative diseases and increasing the speed of aging. Most adults have approximately 4 liters of blood in their body and are surprised to find out that within these 4 liters there is merely one teaspoon of sugar! If sugar levels in your blood increased to one tablespoon, you would immediately fall into a fatal hyperglycemic coma. Your body works extremely hard to prevent this by producing insulin so as to maintain blood sugar levels at the desired level.
 

Causes of Type 2 Diabetes

Each meal or snack rich in cereal, sugar and processed carbohydrates normally causes a rapid sugar increase in blood.
In order for the pancreas to offset the increase, it excretes insulin in blood, which reduces sugar levels and prevents us from dying. However, if we constantly follow a diet rich in sugar, cereal and processed carbohydrates, our body may become “used” to the elevated quantity of insulin, requiring increasing levels for it to be effective.

Te next step following the resistance is that the pancreas is not able to respond to the increasing need for insulin and at that point, blood sugar rises and we suffer from diabetes.

If you have high cholesterol, hypertension, type 2 diabetes or are overweight it is very likely that you consume too much cereal – yes, even wholegrain cereal – as they are the most common cause of increased levels of insulin. The condition is further deteriorated as, when the insulin levels in our blood rise, they send a message to the body to store fat and maintain the existing fat. 

hrefore excess carbohydrates not only make us obese but also prevent us from losing weight. For this reason you should:

  • Limit or completely remove sugar and cereal from your diet
  • Work out regularly and intensely
  • Avoid trans fat
  • Take many omega-3 fatty acids
  • Enjoy adequate high-quality sleep each night
  • Maintain healthy body weight
  • Take adequate antioxidants and mainly vitamin C

Tests tracking insulin levels may significantly contribute to seeing the actual metabolic image. 

Rather than just measuring blood sugar and waiting passively for the time it will exceed the limit, we may do something for our health much earlier.
